Nobu Restaurant London Portman Square
During my recent trip to London, I had the pleasure of dining at Nobu Portman Square, and I can confidently say it was one of the highlights of my visit. With the sun shining and a gentle breeze in the air, the weather was far too beautiful to pass up a seat on their charming terrace. It was the perfect setting for an early dinner around 70 degrees, with that golden hour glow that makes food (and life) feel just a bit more special.
I ordered from their vegan menu, which already felt like a thoughtful and elevated take on plant-based cuisine. I started with tempura snap peas, followed by crispy rice topped with avocado, and a side of steamed rice with spicy mixed vegetables.
Let me tell you, the mixed vegetables at this Nobu location were unlike any I’ve had at their other restaurants. They used a particular mushroom that gave the dish a deep, earthy richness. The sauce had a slightly different taste that was flavorful, and utterly addictive. Every bite brought a new dimension of flavor. I kept pausing between bites just to savor it. It was hands-down one of the best vegetable dishes I’ve ever tasted.
The experience was so memorable that I returned the very next day not for another dinner, but for afternoon tea.
Now, afternoon tea in London is usually a very British affair think scones, finger sandwiches, and Earl Grey. But at Nobu, they’ve added a Japanese twist, and the result is both elegant and unexpected.
I opted for the vegan afternoon tea, which included:
Unlimited crispy rice with avocado (yes, dreams do come true)
Vegetable sushi rolls
A corn slider
And a fresh, flavorful vegetable lettuce wrap
Scones with jelly
The portions were generous, the flavors clean yet complex, and the presentation just as refined as you’d expect from Nobu. It was a perfect blend of tradition and innovation. A reminder that plant-based dining doesn’t have to compromise on taste or creativity.
I would rate the entire experience from the setting, to the service, to the food itself was a 10 out of 10. If you’re in London and looking for a unique dining experience that merges Japanese elegance with British charm, Nobu Portman Square is not to be missed.
